Many Mac users I've talked to recently extol the virtues of Apple's updated iLife suite of applications. One of these "digital lifestyle" products is iPhoto 4, the software that makes it easy for ordinary folks to organize their digital photographs. While Apple has never claimed iPhoto replaces big-ticket asset managers, we wondered if this little app has enough oomph for professionals. The answer is no, not really, but for $49, it's pretty good. Ben Long takes a look.

Do you remember a much overlooked feature in the older Mac OS called ScrapBook? Yes, the one with the drawing of the sun, the one of the car and that weird little sound effect. Well, for those of you who hold a special place in your hearts for certain features that have faded into memory, here comes iClip. ========== HARDWARE TIP OF THE MONTH ==========
Five tips for maximizing battery life out of your iBook or PowerBook's Li-Ion battery.
1) Dim your screen using the F1 key as backlighting eats a lot of power.
2) Turn off nonessential features, i.e., Airport or Bluetooth if you don't need them and remove CD's & DVD's as disks will spin up and down using battery power.
3) Remove your PowerBook battery in desktop situations when plugged in.
4) Reset the Power Management Unit if you are having recharging issues.
5) Resetting the PRAM can help revive a lethargic battery. (Command-Option-P-R while rebooting)
