There's now a real malware program out there for Mac OS X that can do some
real damage. It doesn't seem to be too destructive although it does delete
some UNIX commands and modifies prefs for a couple of others. It will gather
all password info on your machine. For now, lets call it "Opener." Read
more about it on the Macintouch web site http://www.macintouch.com/opener.html

========== TIP OF THE MONTH: APPLEWORKS ==========
Here is an Appleworks tip that deals with spreadsheets. If you enter numbers
starting with a leading zero into a spreadsheet cell, AppleWorks automatically
deletes the leading zero. If you want to preserve the leading zeros in numbers,
enter the number in the format ="number". For example, enter 01234
as ="01234". If you use that format for all numbers in the column,
you can sort the numbers.
========== OS X TIP OF THE MONTH - PDF Browser Plug-In ==========
Free for private use, the Schubert IT PDF Browser Plug-In for Safari allows
user to view pdf files directly within their browser. This includes multiple
views (1, 2 or more pages at one) and to print and/or save them from the browser.
This mirrors the behavior of Windows user's method for browsing pdf's while
online. The tool is free for private use.

========== MAC SOFTWARE SPOTLIGHT ==========
Introducing The GuitarVision Player for Mac OS X!
Conceptually, GuitarVision is like having transcendental musical talent --
in other words, it is like having the ability to visualize a song you want
to learn on the guitar and then being able to play it yourself right away.
Unfortunately, not everyone can simply pick up a guitar and play their favorite
songs. That's why we developed the revolutionary GuitarVision Player software
for Mac.
The GuitarVision Player shows you the exact chords, notes, fingerings and guitar
techniques -- like slides, bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and vibratos -- in
your favorite songs. We have designed the software to enable aspiring guitar
players of all skill levels to learn to play songs. It is specifically designed
to help you visualize every aspect of your favorite songs -- right on the fretboard
of an animated guitar -- to help make learning easier, faster and more fun!
How Does GuitarVision Complement the Mac Family of Music Applications?
Without question, iTunes provides the best music listening and download experience
available. And Apple's GarageBand software is the easiest way to capture and
share your recordings. To bridge the gap between listening to your favorite
songs and recording them, you've got to learn how to play them! That's where
GuitarVision comes in. Now you can listen to a song on iTunes , learn it with
GuitarVision, record and mix your own version with GarageBand , and then publish
it on iTunes -- all without stepping away from your Mac!
